"We're Trying but Still Have Needs"

Bill Johnson

Church planter and visionary of Greater Love Churches in Liberia, Jimmy Gargar says "We're trying but still have needs," about their efforts to plant churches in a sustainable way.

Members of the Greater Love Baptist Churches volunteer to manufacture soap in hopes to support the ongoing church planting in Liberia. Having planted 16 with a vision of 25 in unreached areas of West Liberia, GLBC still has need of support. However, the support they seek is not as common as one might think. While they welcome any and all they are seeking help to grow businesses that the churches own and and operate to promote self-sustainment.

"Right now we need to purchase new packaging that has to be imported and gets expensive. If we can get it we will be able to sell our soap in stores not only the markets." Liberia, still recovering from a brutal civil war, lacks the manufacturing of many goods and services. GLBC is manufacturing a variety of soap including detergent, Clorox, powdered and liquid soap, and body soap. Using Palm Oil as a main ingredient in the body soap, GLBC wants to be as natural as possible.

"If we can get the packaging, we can sell to hotels, supermarkets, stores, and other markets. Besides us, I know of only one other large manufacturer in Liberia. We make a point to put 'Made in Liberia' on our package."

GLBC recently planted and opened a new church space in Garnersville, Liberia and had 75 in an opening attendance and 337 in a revival the following week. GLBC is hoping through its self-sustaining efforts to set a model for those who want to learn to plant churches and extend ministry in ways that are not so dependent. As they do, GLBC is looking for a little extra help along the way. To donate to the efforts of GLBC click here.
